First Cohort
As a new employer-led non-profit, a 501c3, BLUE LLC, also known as a part of the BLUE Enterprises organization, are excited to begin our work with other partnerships and alliances to offer a specific 12-week training that we have entitled, “A Beginner Program to Becoming a Handyman.” The first cohort is designed for the 17-to 25-year-old looking to get ahead with learning now in the classroom, but also working a few days a week on-the-job at an actual construction site.
This is how we envision the project working:
We will provide on-the-job training mixed in with classroom participation.
We will allow mentorship and coaching in an intimate partner environment for forward-thinking talent recruitment and retention. The non-profit is looking to assist in growing the necessary construction trade education and workforce through alliances, resources, and direct hands-on interaction for up to 18 individuals each quarter.
Our new first project of BLUE LLC encompasses ethics, leadership, teamwork, and one-to-one on-the-job training for all types of youth, seeking to grow their skills and move into a career in maintenance or construction.
This is how we designed the program:
This is a unique program opportunity and will lead to employment for the participating youth, ages 17 to 25 years of age. Safety first will be emphasized in this course. Some tools will be provided as part of the program.
The program allows for a 6-to-1 ratio of working professionals to youth on a true job site, a residential home that is being prepared to be “flipped” by Blue 52 Properties. The program also allows for payments to the mentors and the selected on-the-job students in the class for a period of 3 weeks/2 days a week.
Students will be responsible for a bottled water container from home for each day of the course and on-the-job training. Any type of water bottle will be fine. Lunch will not be provided, except on Fridays, in classroom. Students will be instructed to bring their own bag lunch.
In 2023, we will begin to offer a similar program for Vets and women who are looking at a second career path.
